......Like a bridge over troubled water....

We said our first goodbye to Geoff today, I'm guessing more than 800 crammed into our Hall, including Geoff's family, School Governors, representatives of the Authority, past colleagues, past pupils, parents and of course us and the pupils.

The chair made a speech about Geoff, and then a colleague and friend of Geoff's from another school did a "eulogy", which raised some smiles and laughs. One of our pupils sang Bridge Over Troubled Water and there wasn't a dry eye in the house, not even mine!
Our Boss finished off with a powerpoint of some of Geoff's finer moments, and a round of applause for the man. All in all, poignat and moving but also uplifting and hopeful.

Afterwards I saw Geoff's family to pay my respects, and mingled with some of my old colleagues.

Now we just have the funeral to go in a little over a week's time.

I think I might leave Geoff in peace for a while, until then. He liked the limelight but was never one to milk it, so now is a good time to move on and return to an even keel and reflect on the good things.

Das vidanya.
