The best view in the ground....
......It was the annual Bellevue Mum Chums' Partners Day; all the chaps went to Easter Road to watch Celtic v Hibs....oh, with the exception of Pete who went to the ballet. I think on balance Pete got the better deal. Shocking display from both teams in the first half and the floodgates opened in the second as the Hibs midfield was over-run. This image is a massive flag unfurled over the crowd in the fantastic new East Stand at half time.....it might have been better to leave us under it for the duration of the second half.
At the sound of the final whistle we padded through the Leith mizzle to Pearce's for the first of many pints of Mr Smith's favourite tipple, met up with Daljit and then on to the Kalpna for a ruby murray. The food was superb, great flavours and not a dead animal in sight. Then to the Brass Monkey pub for some sleepy, post-meal debate on the sociological motivations of abusive fan chants, and then finally to Pete's gaff where the Mum Chums were holding a 70's food and drink party night. Some of the delicious offerings:
Babycham, Blue Nun Wine, Skooshy cream in a can, Black Forest Gateau, Chicken and white sauce vol-au-vents, Cheese, pineapple and silver skin onion, silver foil hedgehog, Garlic mushrooms, Smash with peas and onions, Kipplings French Fancies, Battenburg cake, Advocate Snowballs, orange plastic cheese, Arctic roll....etc. ....all the food served on paper doilies.....you get the picture.
