Street Food - Bolillos
Every morning I am awaken by the cry of Bolillos echoing in the streets. Bolillos, crusty bread concoctions used in a variety of tasty ways at local restaurants and on the streets, are a staple throughout Zihua. The lady pictured here is only about four and a half feet tall. She carries a basket with easily a 100 bolillos on her head by my front door every day, save for Sunday. Of course she speaks no English, but many mornings I use my rudimentary Spanish to get four fresh, hot bolillos from her for less than a $1. A little butter and a hot cup of coffee and my day is off to a perfect start.
