The Retreat
I'm enjoying experimenting with night time photography. I've not done much before and having messed around a bit I'm getting a feel for how light pools under lamps and how quickly it gives way to dark.
Took this on the way back from (another) council meeting tonight. It's one of the old lanes off Stroud Hight Street leading past the Retreat wine bar. I managed to hold the camera steady on one of the bollards that stops vehicles using the lane.
It's interesting to note the mixture of local Cotswold stone and brick. For quite a period after brick was first being made (locally at Stonehouse brickworks) it was used on the front of buildings whilst the cheaper local stone was used for the sides and back walls. Values have changed and now brick is cheap and Cotswold stone much sought after.
