Chasing the sun
Spent the day visiting with family and then packed up for our travel home. The wedding is over, so now everyone must find their way back home and to their day-to-day lives.
I chose to drive a different road home in hopes of some lovely vantage points I've found in the past. The last time we traveled this part of Arizona, my husband was driving, so I had plenty of opportunity for photos. Being the sole grown up on this trip meant it was far more difficult to stop off for photos without waking my exhausted little boys, so I continued on.
We did stop a few times. My favorite moment was when I stopped so I could relieve my aching bladder. I'm not so proud that I can't pull off the road, but I'm unsure of the laws behind it all. After I was done, my oldest said he too had to go. So I helped him out. Then I was walking him back to the car, and an officer pulled up. He rolled down his window and said, "Stopping for a potty break are yah?" I was immediately worried we were in trouble. I said "Yes, my 5 year old couldn't hold it." Always good to blame a child right?? It's not like they'd haul him off to jail. Right? The officer's reply: "Well I'm headed to do the same." Thank goodness!!
Once we got closer to Phoenix, the sun really began to set and light up the sky in amazing colors. The boys wanted me to pull over and take a photo, so this is what I got. Later the sky turned an incredible blazing red, but I was on the freeway going 70mph and had no place to pull over.
I managed to get lost on the way back to my in-laws' home, so it put us another hour out. I feel bad we didn't get to spend more time with them, but I figure we always have the future. Plus they can visit us here a heck of a lot easier than us hauling our little men over there.
Up late arranging flights. The schedule isn't looking good...
