Looking into Grande rue
...from an even narrower street that leads into it. Grande rue was once the main street of the village but now it doesn't seem to fit its name, being only just wide enough for one car to pass. This is a messy composition, but I liked something about it and kept coming back to it when I was looking through the many shots I took this morning in wonderful clear light. What I don't like is the Victorian-style street lamp, a style which the mairie has decided to use throughout the old part of the village. I think it's anachronistic in a medieval village in the twenty-first century... but maybe they decided to go half way between the two.
Grande rue in June.
