Goosander

Today's the day .......................... to check up on the goosanders

No work today and the weather wasn't too bad - so I thought I would go and see if I could find the goosanders on the River Kent again.

I had no trouble at all - they were exactly where I saw them last time. I think people come to the river bank at this spot and throw in bread because there were lots of ducks and even a swan mingling about. The goosanders were looking magnificent and it was much easier to spot the males and females this time. I counted six females and three males - and I'm wondering if this is some kind of record?!

I have to say that the ducks were giving the goosanders a hard time and constantly bullying them out of the way. They definitely took exception to having these exotic-looking creatures on their home patch ...............!
