the uk is starting to get vaguely into halloween, but only in the commerical, sweetie-eating fancydress way really. no pumpkins on the front steps in edinburgh yet, but they are all over the place in boston, looking esp classy on these back bay brownstones.

quiet morning reading the papers over coffee on the common, then time for S to get driving north again - far too short a time as usual, but good as it always is. makes me think of how nice it would be to live in the same city and see each other more than once every couple of years! but then i guess it wouldn't be the same if we did, so...
