The observatory
This is a small observatory about 2 miles from my home run by keen amateur astronomers. Not very remarkable I admit but it was here many years ago that I first saw Saturn properly for the first time. The club sometimes have open evenings and I went along, stood in line and eventually it was my turn to look through the eyepiece. There it was Saturn, rings and all and I found it totally breathtaking, talk about awe and wonder. Two telescopes later and I still find observing the planets thrilling, it's all up there and people rarely look or just think that's a bright star. Even with a modest pair of binoculars they could be looking at Jupiter with a string of moons surrounding it. Ah well some things do it for you and some things don't I suppose.
