Welcome to the International Year of Forests !

What? Well, I suppose that this UN designation for 2011 is not yet on everyone's lips, but we are now in The International Year of Forests so to celebrate day one, a picture taken at a friend's house this afternoon and dedicated to all (like most of us in Argyll) who live amongst trees and who value their contribution to the world. And the trees in this picture are particularly significant to the community here in Glendaruel, as they are part of the Stronofian Forest which we are collectively trying to buy and make into an communal asset for the long term future of the 250 households that are scattered from the head of the Glen to beyond Colintraive.
