New year gifts

A basket of good things brought to us by two of the friends who came to celebrate 2011 with us last night. Cartagène is a local liqueur made with grape juice and brandy, the cheese is a lovely mature St Nectaire fermier, and the tripous (tripe) are a delicacy from the south-west of France where these friends lived for years before returning to their home here. So kind of them and completely unexpected, especially as they also contributed their delicious home-prepared foie gras to the meal. We had a great night with them all....it has led to a bit of a slow start today, though!
