Widower

I sang for a funeral today. I sing many funerals, but this one was for a family friend.
It was difficult for me to sing through the immediacy of tears, but I focused on the words and offered it as a gift and divine intervention carried me to the end of the piece....then I start crying.

This is Jim, now a widower. He is 90 something and an amazing man.
I have known Mae, his wife, since I was very young. So many memories.

Mae was an incredible woman - filled with joy and faith.

I felt honored to a part of her memorial service; to sit with her family and share stories of the good times.

After the service, Jim took my hand and said to me, "There is nothing that makes me happier than to hear you sing." So I cried some more.

I hope that Jim is ok without his sweetie pie.
Someday I may be a widow. I hope that I will be brave.
