Learning to Ski
The day dawned fine here at Great Barrier Island, and we were "rudely awoken" by the kids at 8.30, telling us that we had to be at the wharf by 9am for the first dive. Scallops.
Fighting a little inertia, I climbed out of bed, grabbed a cup of tea, donned wetsuit and headed for the scallop beds. Conveniently located just 200m from the wharf.
First dive in a year and still a little clogged up I was somewhat reticent, but once underwater all was fine. Nice dive, scallops were a little sparse, but we got our 100 without too much difficulty.
Then back for a late breakfast. Adam and I then headed to Fitzroy for a dive tank refill and some shopping. On our return, straight back into the boat and water skiing. Crazy!
Uncle Phil bought some kids skis, so the BIG experiment, how would the kids go. After some initial reluctance they jumped in the water and with some assistance they literally jumped straight up! Fantastic! Very excited kids
And adults? Hil got up on the single ski and I had lots of fun with the new Go Pro video. All very good fun!
Then back to the house, a few wines as the sun set, a BBQ. Yes, bliss!
