Oystercatcher
Storm today at Great Barrier. 50knot winds, rain, and general yuckyness, as predicted.
But that's OK, we slept in, had a later breakfast and had a very lazy morning. Kids had lots of fun playing and spending time with aunts/uncles, gandmas/grandpas - they are in heaven! Although many more cried of "can we go fishing" - despite the weather!
My major job included fixing the sailing dingy. Preparing and fibre glassing some damage, installing new bungs, fixing shackles and replacing pulleys. Quite a job, but pretty much ready to go once the weather returns to normal.
Which is kind of is as I write this and look over the bay, beer in hand. Still raining but turning to the South. Might be a great day tomorrow.
The bay has a number of birds this year, including these oyster catchers (with eggs in nest) and a pair of Pateke (brown teal). Great to watch.
