Crown Range
Well, today we headed over the Crown Range to Arrowtown and beyond. Last time I travelled over the range I swore that I'd never do it again. That was approximately 25 years ago. Happily, in 2000, they sealed it. Yay! It is now the highest sealed road in New Zealand. This tree is at the top point of the road looking down towards Queenstown.
We had breakfast at a cafe in Wanaka, a drink in a bar in Arrowtown (so Kiwilizzie could watch the Brits beating the Aussies at cricket), then we took the Lake Hayes road to Queenstown. Didn't bother to stop there, heading straight on to Glenorchy. I'd never been that far up the lake so that was a new experience too.
We came back to Wanaka via the Coronet Peak/Arrowtown road, crossing the Shotover but not stopping for a jet boat ride - couldn't risk getting the cameras wet!
