Apple Pie
Apple Pie. One of the loves of my life in the dessert world. Crisp. Fresh. Served warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
I lucked out one day and stumbled upon an amazing pie recipe. I made it fairly effortlessly (I'm not much of an experienced baker). The recipe showed me how to weave the top crust. The sugary butter goodness is actually poured over the top of the pie so the weave is necessary. And to be honest, the weave is my creative outlet in the whole pie making experience. When it comes out of the oven, the top almost has a carmel looking glaze. An impressive sight for something so easy to make.
So now I am kind of known for these apple pies. Throughout my family that is. My parents bought me this cool tool that peels, cores and slices. It usually takes me about twenty minutes to refigure out how to set it up and then only about five minutes to peel, core and slice all the apples. This morning when I woke up, I knew that I would blip this scene. Because tonight we are having our Christmas with my husband's side of the family and I was asked to bring my apple pie. I love that I now know how to bake something that is actually requested.
We are so fortunate to have such wonderful memories to look forward to throughout the holiday season. The kid's little Christmas outfits are adorable this year and I'm just looking forward to spending the evening with people in our lives who mean so much to us. The cousins will be together. Gifts will be shared. Memories will be made......and memories are what make Christmas such a special time of year.
