Sledding
Last night as I was finishing up my Christmas cards, I made a mental list of all of things that I needed to do today to get ready for our first Christmas celebration on Wednesday. Pack for the four of us, wrap the presents, make two apple pies, print out photos..............
And then my husband called:
Hey honey, I know we have a million things to do tomorrow but some guys at work want to take their families sledding.......wanna go?
(Pause) Yeah, let's go.
So today we drove up to the mountain and went sledding. Eight kids in total with our kids being the youngest. Our son flew down those hills on his sled so fast, I almost couldn't bear to look the first couple of times. I told my husband, "well it's official, he is going to be your snowboarding loving kid, no doubt". Our daughter loved the sledding too. But what she loved more was just climbing around in the snow. I took a ton of pictures as usual and I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I forced myself to use my 50mm manual focus for the practice. I'm excited to edit them as most are clear and in focus.
This little river stream was BEGGING to be photographed. I didn't want my hike down to be a dangerous one, so I took the long way. But by taking the long way, I was able to get next to the stream. I knew I wanted a 'flowing water' shot so I had about ten minutes or so to practice with my settings while my husband took the kids back to the car to warm up. Tomorrow, our holiday festivities begin. Christmas with my husband's side of the family. And our floor is finally going to be refinished so we need to be out of here at 8am sharp. I guess it's safe to say that we still have a few things to do tonight.
I'm outta here blippers.....
