The Avenue
Woke up this morning to this. We cleared our driveway in the forenoon yesterday. Today it is indistinguishable from everything else. Thwarted! The local schools have thrown in the towel and closed until after Christmas. One of the headmasters was last seen waiting for a tractor to pull him home from where he ground to a halt on the way home from the school. Shortly after, we heard the news by text. Mrs. Joesblips is now on an extended holiday. She works in the same school as that headmaster.
I shot a few half decent photos around the garden this morning with which I am quite pleased but I am posting this just so you see what we are up against. The road is like this all the way to Arklow, 3 miles away. I can guarantee you NONE of this will be snowploughed. There is about 80mm of rutted ice UNDER this stuff, the residue of the snow which fell over 3 weeks ago. Driving will remain totally unsafe until nature takes its course and nobody in authority cares. We will be walking the round trip of 6 miles for bread and milk in a few days by the look of this.
