Heron

These birds look far larger in the air than on the ground.

I had already chosen a blip for today but then we went out to Pounawea Inlet for a drive and I captured this heron. He looked quite elegant in flight but for some reason this photo hasn't captured that grace. Never mind, I'm sure he'll forgive me.

We have been to Balclutha today, followed by luate lunch in a cafe at Kaka Point, because the weather was not very nice for outside pursuits. Tomorrow is looking better so we're hoping to manage Cathedral Caves or McLean Falls.
