Solstice Eclipse!
Happy Yule! I know there are plenty of moon images up, but this moon is special to me.
My past few blips concern this special day.
The Winter Solstice. Yule. The last sabbat of the calendar year for Pagans.
The longest night of the year, the next turn of the wheel brings the Sun.
I ran out of my house at 10 minutes to 2AM EST, the moon was already well under way. I reached my destination a scant 25 minutes before full totality began. Yes, I traveled 30 minutes out of town for a good viewing spot.
I parked on the side of a dark road and set up an impromptu altar(EXAMPLE). I toasted the moon with Wassail(Blip and Recipe) and watched intently, planning on many pictures....
I had bad batteries, but a good viewpoint. I managed three images before it died completely.
My camera hasn't got a very good zoom, and this is cropped to enlarge the moon Herself.
I cast a small ritual, bidding Diana a safe journey through the darkness, and am casting again in a few minutes to welcome Her back.
Tonight I will cast again, in celebration of Yule itself.
This morning, the Esbat. Tonight, the Sabbat.
This is such a blessed day.
Blessed be!
Also, I managed to catch a single shooting star tonight, not on camera, but by sight. I feel very blessed in that.
