The thermometer lies!
We have been enjoying experiencing a real cold snap through most of December, but, according to the thermometer, today's temperature was 27 degrees...not exactly warm, but 5-7 degrees warmer than anything we had last week. The cloud cover is so thick there hasn't been a glimmer of sun all day long. Sunrise? We never saw it today. Even the wildlife are feeling the cold, and with the snow covering up their food supply, they have slipped into mooching mode. I was carrying bird seed, but when I stopped to sprinkle some on this fallen tree, these deer, and several others, moved in before the birds ever had a taste. I heard one little chickadee perched in the tree, loudly scolding the mooches who were stealing his bird seed. If December is any indication, it's going to be a long, cold winter in Ohio.
