Tornado Warning!!

Well, not for my neighborhood, but the area south of Salem, Oregon got hit with a tornado today. The Pacific Northwest does get tornadoes and they can occur any time of year but are most common in the fall and the spring when the air is unstable. These are called cold air funnel tornadoes and are usually short lived. These are NOTHING like what happens in the mid-western United States. These are usually f-0 to F-1 on the tornado scale, but they still are capable of damage as the winds can be 60-100 mph. The specialists come in and assess the damage, as there was quite a bit in a small area, and after looking at the data, in a few days they will tell us if it was indeed a tornado or some other kind of wind. In any case, when you are in the car, as I was, and the warning signal comes in on the radio and you hear "This is an alert from the National Weather Center.....", you tend to pay attention. Then as aI left the store, I got into a major downpour, which continued until after I got home and took this photo. Then, suddenly, the storm cloud moved on, and it quit raining, for the moment.
