Dhammatalaka Pagoda: the Reservoir of Truth
Today we went to the Burmese Temple in Birmingham. It's hidden away round the back of a big estate in Ladywood, and you would never guess it's there - a tall intensely golden spire with tiny chiming bells amongst the terrace houses and litter of Osler Road.
It was partly the Burmese Food Festival that took us there - and the chance to see inside the peace pagoda which was filled with Buddha, flowers, candles and Burmese carved furniture. In another building, filled with warm Burmese ladies guarding their mountainous dishes, we had some wonderful food - including mohinga, a soup of fish base, with coriander, chilli, fish sauce, marrow fritters and a boiled egg, the food of kings. Yum.
There were so many sights, but this picture is so peaceful it has to be the one for today's blip.
