The Dower House Robin

It seemed that my Icy Rant of yesterday touched a nerve amongst my commentators.
Despite quite a thaw overnight, not a lot has happened on the pavement front once the city centre is left behind. Noticeably bad are the lumps of frozen snow which the unwary bus passenger has to exit onto, when alighting from the bus.
But enough of snow. Now that it's melting and getting dirty, it isn't quite the same as the fresh wonderland of last week.

His Lordship and I with uncharacteristic togetherness went into town to do various errands and ended up reneging on only one. This because we got sidetracked into buying the dinner and bottle of wine for £10 offer at M&S and with the other purchases weighing heavily in our hands, decided to quit while the going was good.

Back to the Dower House to watch the colour appearing from underneath the snow and to marvel at the little violas still blooming after their frozen internment. Isn't nature wonderful?

I had the chance this afternoon to blip the newly arrived Dower House robin, clad in his Christmas finery and posing so happily for me on his plant leaf. He would have preferred a Christmas tree branch, but with none available he chose to settle for the second best.

He came by carrier post from Glasgow from another blipper of robins, and I will look after him so well that I know he will be happy to stay with us and be our Christmas Dower house star resident for the years to come.

With blipping and shopping accomplished it's time to put the kettle on for daughter #1 and granddaughter who are paying me a visit.

At lunch time I had the wonderful sight of the whole local primary school filing past the Dower House in an endless crocodile with a policeman front and back. They were on their way to the Lyceum to see the Snow Queen
It was a lovely sight, to see all the little dark figures against the white background and hear the attendant sound like noisy starlings. It was also good to get a wave from ex neighbours and granddaughter.
