Praha Day 4
We woke this morning to sun and a pink sky - a mixed message- and so it proved to be as we had heavy rain by lunch time.
We have been unfortunate to have seen Prague only in the rain and dampness.
This may have been the trigger for the airing of his Lordship's moans. In no particular order, they have been:-a) The rain b) the airless bedroom c) the uneven street cobbles which hurt his knees when walking d) the seemingly scruffy policemen and policewomen e) the constant 15% tipping for everyone and everything f) His inability to understand the language g) his inability to understand the money ..... etc etc I'm beginning to think he's past his sell by date!
His mood improved considerably when we went into an Irish pub for hot wine and lunch and where people spoke with Irish accents and were happy and jolly.
Two sayings on the wall caught my eye:- There are two types of people in this world. Those who are Irish and those who wish they were.
Irish diplomacy - the ability to tell a man to go to hell, so
that he'll look forward to the trip
Prague is a very beautiful and fascinating city ( even in the rain) with an ancient and complicated history. We saw it at its worst, but it would be amazing to see it in springtime or with a dusting of snow to set off the patchwork of roofs(rooves!).
Today's blip is of the statue of King Wenceslas at the top of Wenceslas Square.
