The air is very clear today, in a cold north wind, and at this time of year the deciduous trees (mostly oaks) stand out among the more numerous evergreen holm oaks, pines, olive trees and the shrubs of the garrigue. This is how winter should look here. On the left there's a huge bay tree - after nurturing tiny ones in Wales I was amazed how quickly and how big they grow here.

The vines have lost their leaves and those in the vineyard at bottom right of this picture have been trimmed ready for next year. They belong to the Domaine des Pascales which you can just see through the trees and which I blipped from the other side last month.

LARGE is good for detail.
