Caught In A Web

For the first time since I got back from Cape Cod I did not have a day featuring some appointment or other. Truth is I kind of missed that. I guess it is a sad state of affairs when your social contact revolves around doctor's and dentist's appointments. But then again, I am mixing with the professional classes. :-)

I wasn't sure which direction to head in when I set out from the house. I think the indecision stemmed from the fact that I was truly back in the old routine. But I put my best foot forward and sallied forth in the warm sunshine. The colder weather with temperatures below freezing at night is due to start on Sunday. Soon I will be able to relate to my former country, well at least a little bit.

The creative juices flowed pretty early on. I was in a "suck it and see" mood, not particularly bothered in capturing perfection at the first go but rather taking a shot and seeing how it panned out when I got back home.

I knew a lot of the stuff I took probably wouldn't work, and so it proved. But the very last shot gave me the feeling that I had found the winner for today's blip. I just happened to look up at this window sill and saw the leaves caught in a cobweb. And the cracking and peeling paint just seemed to be the perfect backdrop for the decay of fall/autumn.

I have tried to keep focused on the here and now today, so maybe yesterday's advice has rubbed off a little. But it sure is a challenge not to cross over to the dark side.

I remember a song by the Keef Hartley Band in 1969, Too Much Thinking off the Halfbreed album. One line has always stuck in my head -- "Too much thinking, if I don't stop I'm gonna start sinking." It struck a chord with me all those years ago as an angst-ridden teenager and still holds true today.

Have a good weekend, y'all!
