Waiting For A Bus

Out of the house early today for my first of three counselling sessions.

The nub of the counsellor's advice was that I need to stop thinking, stop dwelling in the past and stop fearing the future. I am also supposed to change negativity to wise self talk, whatever that is supposed to mean, and live one day at a time.

The best line came when she said that I had had the courage to come in for the session with a strange woman. "Very strange," I quipped and then apologized for my wicked sense of humour.

She also said I was a suitable candidate and I interrupted to say, "The Tea Party." That brought a smile from my doctor, who was in the room taking notes, as the counsellor went on to say, "A suitable candidate for therapy."

Whether I go down that road remains to be seen.

On the subject of negativity, if the counsellor had handed me a case containing $100,000, you can bet your life I would not be having any negative thoughts.

But when I switch on the TV and watch the adverts, I am quickly made to feel that I am at a considerable disadvantage compared to a great many people and simply cannot participate in the life that is led by so many others.

I came away from the session feeling rather neutral and turned to thinking of today's blip. Walking along King Street, I spotted this old man waiting for a bus. It is not an earth-shattering shot but it has a certain je ne sais quois.

A bit like me. :-)

I spent this afternoon back blipping shots from Cape Cod. They are ready and awaiting your perusal.
