Cheerful...

Wee C is remarkably cheerful here, in the garden after walking home from school - lunchbag still in hand and school skirt falling down...

She was more cheerful than me anyway - the council had stated around lunch time that the schools had been given the authority to close due to adverse weather conditions if they wished, and that parents would be contacted by the head of the establishment to let them know the local arrangements. After waiting all day for a message from the school telling me to pick wee C up from school early, I assumed that the head teacher at wee C's school had decided that the weather conditions weren't that bad (which they weren't), and that the school had stayed open.

How wrong I was - when me and wee D stoated round the corner to school to pick wee C up, we discovered it eerily silent and only two cars left in the staff car park. Only 4 kids left in the school, wee C being one of them. Apparently their messaging system wasn't working - yet they didn't think to pick up the phone and ring round the parents. Apparently people had heard by 'word of mouth' - not one other parent contacted me to let me know either.

Absolutely raging.
