The Doc's Perspective

Sore Part 2

having got my sliced thumb repaired i played in a football tournament at the weekend. I was a guest player for the Polish team in the New Zealand communities cup. We drew 2 and won the other of our games on saturday to qualify for the semi finals on the sunday. We then beat the favourites ireland in the semi and went on to face italy in the final.

We were 1-0 behind with 15mins to go but i didnt manage to finish the game as i got in a tangle with an italian defender and he fell on my arm, snapping it about the elbow. The game moved to another field while i received treatment and lots of painkillers from the ambulance crew, who did a great job looking after me. Once at hospital i got a call from the team telling me they had won 2-1 after extra time, which meant we had qualified for the oceania communities cup in Fiji. It was some welcome good news on an emotional and painful day. Hopefully i'll be fit enough to play in that

Spent an uncomfortable night in hospital but thankfully the doc decided i didn't need an operation and i could go home armed with enough painkillers to last a lifetime! I'm still very sore but i'm hoping looking at everyones great blips will keep me entertained for the next few weeks as i won't be able to move far from the couch.
