we should, like, stop saying like
example: psa for (prescriptive) linguistic awareness, "don't sound stupid, stop saying like."

analysis:
this is like, so obviously a fake psa, ya know? um, like, totally.
what gives it away? take a look at name of the "acadamy" this awareness poster was supposedly designed for: "acadamy of linguistic awarness". no respectable academy would sign off on a poster with two words of their school name misspelled. plus, i tried to google if such an academy existed, and found nothing.
shortly after we watched that cbc-like video in class about linguistic differences in canadian versus british english, and how language can evolve over time, i thought it was quite hilarious that i managed to stumble upon a fake psa on 'linguistic snobbery'. this was probably the result of someone's graphic design assignment. i like how the girl in the poster has her head cocked like that.
in case in you're interested, this is the fine print in the bottom right hand corner of the poster:
*every year more than a tenth of all college students in the usa receive bad grades because of their excessive use of the word 'like'. this leads in many cases to prolonged duration of study.
btw, i did not take this actual picture, this is just yet another pic i took of a jpg displayed on my laptop monitor. hey, i wish i had come across this poster in person - that would have just made my day!
