Purple Cabbage Flower
This is from the Thanksgiving centerpiece, a wonderful blossom that survives the cold because it is related to the cabbage plant. I have no idea if they are edible, but they certainly are pretty!
It's a succulent, with thick water-filled petals. There is no scent, as far as I can tell.
Very much an autumn thing here, and often seen in cemetery boxes. Supposedly they last forever, well into winter.
We shall see! I love the color and the shape of the leaves.
Do you have these in NZ and Australia??
We are having a fun weekend with Grandma Jane, who is visiting from Martha's Vineyard. Tomorrow Bruce will take her home and I go to Snow Farm for one last day volunteering at the fundraiser sale.
We went to see the Harry Potter movie today. It is very dark and scary!
