I am the secretary.........

Meet Shaun, our club secretary, Chelsea fan (but we won't hold that against him), motor mechanic and father of three.

Shaun holds our angling club together, he's currently doing both the Secretary and the Treasurer roles, and also runs the matches.All the more remarkable when you realise that two of his three children have disabilities, one with Cerebral Palsy and one with Down's syndrome.

Does he complain...no, well not about the children...sometimes about the club. He works every Wednesday and other days on an ad hoc basis and the rest of the time he's either looking after the children, together with his lady wife, or working for the club, handling corespondence, finances, membership etc.

Last year he gave us all the fright of our lives....he had a heart attack! Went home, felt funny, didn't feel like sleeping, felt worse, eventually phoned the late night medical centre who sent an ambulance straight away. Into hospital were they informed him that had he gone to sleep it was very unlikely that he would have woken up. He recovered pretty quickly but he's had to make changes, no more fast food, give up smoking, relax more. That's why I pick him up for our Sunday matches, so I can watch out for him, I carried all his gear for a few months after his recovery but now he won't let me.

I'll be picking him up again tomorrow at 7.30 and dropping him back at home around 4.00, in between, hopefully we'll both have caught lots of fish.

Why did I blip Shaun today? Well partly because I've been so inspired by the portraits of debra, ingunn and jkj10, also because debra reckons I'm turning artsy, but mainly because he's my mate! Let me know what you think.
