We're Married!!
What a beautiful day. This photo is actually courtesy of one our good friends.
I was so nervous about the weather. My dad and I had been watching the weather forecast all week and debated about whether or not to rent a tent to cover the patio. We ultimately decided not to because a local weatherman said that the storm was just going to miss San Diego. So when I woke up at 4:30 a.m. to RAIN I freaked out a little!!
The morning went by so fast . . . picked up Christa, got coffee at Starbucks, and picked up Anna & Rose at their hotel. Hair and make-up took a little bit longer than I anticipated but overall I was really happy with the results.
All dolled up, four of us headed over to the venue at 8:30 a.m. (leaving two bridesmaids behind to finish and meet us there later). When we got there, Emily, our day-of event coordinator, had already sprung into action about the rain. She moved the ceremony into the living room which ended up being really lovely and cozy. The beautiful room made me feel like I was in a movie set or something!!
I had a some nerves as I was getting dressed but mostly performance anxiety about being in front of so many people rather than nervousness about getting married (that was the easy part!).
Walking down the stairs with my dad was a sweet moment . . . and hearing the music play (instrumental versions of "Everything I do (I do for you)" for the bridal party and Elton John's "Your Song" for me and my dad) made me choke up a bit. I did a pretty good job of keeping my emotions in check until the reading of the vows. I barely got through mine and had to stop to regain composure at one point.
After the ceremony, the cocktail hour and reception were a blast. The rain and clouds went away and it was a sparkling, beautiful afternoon! It went by so so fast. And then in the evening, our close friends went out dancing with us - the perfect and very fun ending to a wonderful day.
Most definitely this was one of the happiest days of my life. It was amazing to see how all the months of planning came together . . . the shawls on the girls turned out so gorgeous and I loved, loved, LOVED my bouquet. I mean, the flowers in general were beautiful but my bouquet was absolutely perfect.
In terms of vendors, I couldn't have asked for a better caterer, DJ, event coordinator, or florist. I was so pleased with all of them - outstanding professionals that helped make our day flow with ease.
And, of course, the end result of being officially married to my best-friend is the highlight of the day. I'm really excited to start our family and the rest of our life together.
(sigh of happiness!)
