Adventures in Power Outages
I love bread. I have second-degree burn scars on my arms that are a daily reminder of my affinity for French baguettes fresh from the oven.
I also love eating meals out of context. Appetizers and side items as my main course, breakfast for dinner, Thanksgiving-inspired sub sandwiches in the spring - that sort of thing. And after picking up a few baguettes from La Panier, I knew making a bruschetta was going to be pure bliss. Definitely on my list of likes.
On my hate list? Power outages. Cold showers in the dark. Rain. The beginning of winter in a region that is synonymous with eternal darkness.
Pomodoro Fresco Sourdough Bruschetta* and Power Outage collided this evening after having spent the entire day locked up in the dark & cold.
Needless to say, the bread was good and gone quickly. I love the sound of crackling bread set to the soundtrack of rain's pitter-patter. sigh
On a side note, thank you to all the lovely people who work at Puget Sound Energy for trying all day to get the power back on!
