Thistle Down

So- Beautiful

A rose...so beautiful,
A deep, deep, rose of red.
And on a card beside it,
A few sweet words were said;

"This is for you...Mom,
Because you gave me life.
And now that I am grown today,
I know your toil and strife.

This rose is for you...Mom,
With fragrance from above.
It comes upon my birthday,
And with it comes my love."

******************

And you...my precious daughter,
You, too...should hold a rose.
For the life-blood and the bodies,
Is a course...that ever flows.

You need to be rewarded,
Like me...with joy above.
My heart was yours from long ago,
And always...it is love.

Family; Thanks to my Mom for letting me know that this was a tradition between Grandma and Gayle - going back many years.

This is a paragraph that Marilyn Pickett Hunter wrote about Gayle Pickett Jacobson in her personal history; "Gayle was just older than me. We were good friends. She was always involved in cheerleading in school. I liked it when her girlfriends would come to visit because something exciting was always happening and once in a while they would let me join in their little clique. She married Don Jacobson and spent her married life in Swan Valley, Idaho. They raised a large family of eleven good children."

Another little side note; I got my middle name of Gay from my Mom in honor of Gayle.
