Ethan Bear
I love every day with my wee boy but some days are harder going than others. And today was one of them!
He was up at midnight howling and took ages for hubbie to re-settle him. He was then wide awake at 6am so got brought through to our room when hubbie was getting up for work. He was bright eyed and ready to party (unlike me) but I still refuse to get up at that time of the day. So he played on the bed, had his milk, we sang songs and watched a bit of cBeebies. Finally just after 8am when I was about to give up, he fell asleep! Typically he then slept for ages when we were supposed to be meeting a friend at Scrambles at 10.30am. So I rescheduled by 1/2 hour and we made it by the skin of our teeth.
Trouble was, a few minutes after getting to the soft play area Ethan had a complete meltdown. He has been there 3 times before and the first two times was fine. The most recent time he howled too but I just thought he was having an off day. However after today, I can only assume there is something about the place which is upsetting him. He was unconsolable, clung to me the whole time with tears streaming down his face, screaming really loudly. I even gave him an early lunch which was eaten in between howls. The place was very busy and noisy when we arrived but quietened down after an hour and he then calmed down a bit, so perhaps that's what the problem was. I'm due to go there again with another friend on Thursday and if we have the same reaction then I think we'll have to give the place a miss for a while.
We then nipped down to The Centre to buy the items I didn't get on my abandoned trip there yesterday. Bumped into Mrs42 & Baby42 while we were there so had a bit of a natter with her before heading home.
Once we got home he played for a wee while, before becoming ultra clingy again and wouldn't leave my side. Kind of hard to get anything done with him attached to my ankles the whole time!
Still, hubbie has done bedtime tonight and from the sounds of things Ethan has gone to bed without a fuss so touch wood for a good night and a better day tomorrow.
