Life thru a swing
Sat here with a glass of wine in my hand, strictly on the tele with a chance to reflect on a busy hectic family day!
The day started at 5.30am.....why why on a none school day...always seems to be the way. Started reading Chris Evans new book as penance. The rest of the house came to life around 6.45. Coffee breakfast and then I nipped to the fish shop. Started a spelt loaf and a scotch broth. Took the big fella and his pal to Saturday football, the fella joined me for a baby chino and a share of my fruit loaf. That takes us to about lunch time.
Last nights blip brioche cooked beautifully, think it's the best recipe so far. Tried to make two loaves out of the mixture.....but the kind of exploded together!
The afternoon was taken care of by the big man attending a party, the wee man a trip to the library (more cooking books :) ) and a tiny trip to tesco for an essential for pudding tonight.
Saturday is the night we put the boys to bed and I get to be chef for the two of us. I don't need to discuss or agree the food, I get the floor and it's one of my favourite parts of the weekend. I don't normally do dessert but tonight I'm trying Bills apfel strudel from the waitrose mag. Braised beans from the waitrose mag.....with a little creation of my own although I'm sure I've stolen it from Jamie or somebody. I'm going to wrap some monkfish in pancetta pan fried (served with the left over spelt bread from lunch)
Anyway back to Ann widdecombe and the Chardonnay (loose goose) is going down beautifully!
Happy Saturday folks!
