Möbius Miss

Friendly Stranger

The other day I really wanted to blip a photo of a 'bloke on the street' but felt a bit funny- well firstly I suspect he may have knowing I was picturing him (despite my covert attempt to capture the monument beside him) and secondly, he didn't look too happy, despite not looking into the camera- it could of course had been the way he holds his face but I just felt awkward blipping him, despite the fact he was perfect blip-fodder so passed over the chance.

Anyhow, I got inspired after reading http://www.blipfoto.com/horrigans blip and comments discussing taking pictures of the public and decided I might try again.

I was in the city centre again today (OK yesterday, since this is a backblip) and saw this very friendly street musician. I really badly wanted to take his picture. At first I retired to a safe distance and tried to capture his silhouette but then thought what a friendly face he had and how much I wanted to take his portrait. So with change in hand, slipped into his pot I simply asked. He willingly said yes and asked me to wait until he got his music right, then simply smiled at me as I took a few shots. The music was very fantastical, almost fairy-like and dreamy- just seemed one of this moments to capture- and what a happy guy.

So. First portrait of a stranger done and dusted. I think I might just try again sometime!
