The (not so) quiet life

By Abikaty

As a child Rememberance Day was always a hard concept to grasp. We stood and took part in the minutes silence and knew of the sacrifices that the brave young men had made to preserve our freedom and way of life. But fifty years is a long time to a child and such brutal warfare seemed so far removed from the way we now live.

Armistice day has now taken on new meaning to the modern generation and is no longer just about remembering history, but taking a moment to think of those who are once again risking life and limb fighting on foreign soil. Lest we forget.
