A day out at Krak Des Chevaliers (Qalat al-Husn)

A boyhood dream, born of reading Ivanhoe, came true today. At last I was to see and to visit a Crusader Castle! Krak Des Chevaliers in northern Syria is arguably the most beautiful and spectacular of all Crusader Castles and did not disappoint in any way.
