Alloa That Jazz
I'd spotted this boat earlier, further up river near Stirling, on a part of the River Forth I've never seen boats of this size before. It was heading back towards Alloa so after I'd been inflicted to piped Christmas Muzak on our thankfully rapid retail excursion I headed down to the old harbour to see if it was still around. Timed it perfectly as it was just coming back in to berth as I got there.
It's a really rare event to see anything this substantial down Alloa way as the harbour was closed back in 1960, but a bit of checking shows this pleasure cruiser's been up here at least three time this year. Today it was a 3 hour Jazz cruise and it was all a bit surreal waiting for the boat to come in whilst Mac the Knife was being rattled out across the water. Normally this vessel sails a bit further down river around the bridges from South Queensferry
I (along with another blipper) have been offered an open invite by a gent who has a boat down here, to go out on a photo taking trip doon the water some time. He'd spotted a few of our shots down there and I received a very complimentary phone call out of the blue last week from the chap asking if we'd like a wee shot on his boat. So, hopefully when the weather's nice, some time soon, we'll be able to take up the offer and have nice little blip-meet on a boat on the River Forth. Looking forward to that.
