Stairway to heaven

Not really. Our friend John is a builder and unfortunately at the age of 72 he still has to work due to his two boys, who worked for him in the family business here in Spain, ripping him off good style. Both boys (42 and 37 years) have done a runner back to the Uk and left John and his wife with huge debts, hence his need to carry on working.

The steps lead to the solarium at the back of the house and they leaked into the utility room and when it rained they were lethal as they were not non slip. John has had to dig up the old tiles, of which there were two layers. The previous owners had a 'cowboy' in to replace the tiles and make good the waterproof felt, all they did was pile a huge layer of concrete on top of the old tiles and put another layer down, needless to say it didn't work.

The job has now been done properly, new bricks to make good, a layer of concrete, waterproof membrane, another layer of concrete then the tiles, non slip.

What should have been a weeks work turned into 2 weeks. If I ever won a substantial amount of money I would pay off their debts so that he and his wife could enjoy retirement.
