World Famous Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade

All manor of decorated golf carts parade down El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert, CA accompanied by marching bands and various local groups. In keeping with the parade theme of Halloween Extravaganza, the decorated carts and groups were dressed in "scary" outfits. This bride and groom from a valley dance school and the two dozen zombies following behind were deserving winners of the Sweepstakes Trophy.

The golf cart parade began in the early 1960s and became an annual event in 1983. In the early days, it was ?Christmas in July? for the benefit of local residents who found the summers boring. Now it is held the fourth Sunday in October and has seen crowds of 10,000 watch the hour and a half spectacle.
