How not to take a portrait of your son:
Have the aperture nice and large to throw the background out of focus, spot focus while son is watching Wall-E, tell him to smile, squeak at him to try and get his attention, click the shutter as he turns his head and moves towards you with a smile. Gah.
Lots of other beautifully in focus shots, but he wasn't smiling in any of them. Just pure concentration on Wall-E.
After-smile....
Oh no, Wall-E!
Pure concentration
Apart from this one, where he was smiling, AND in focus, and I managed to chop his cheek off!! Hence the rather severe crop...
*sigh*
Oh well.
Other than the failed photographs, today has actually been pretty good. I had 4 things on my to-do list today: residents parking permit, pick up box from Post Office, pay in cheques, hunt vegetables.
Didn't pay in the cheques but no matter. Did, however, buy a couple of odd squash, with the intention of carving them. Which I did! And had just enough flesh to make into a soup (with a couple of carrots and a leek and a potato and some chilli powder and ground cumin and chcken stock...). And even Ben enjoyed the soup! Result. And I have squash lanterns too, which are pretty basic but will do. Have discovered a rather big lack of tea lights though, will have to rectify that tomorrow. I thought I had hundreds, I don't know where they've got to! Oh yeah... I remember... in the attic...
And my box was exciting :) Full of little goodies from my mum-in-law, great fun to open!
Bath night for Ben tonight. Hopefully. At least he loves his baths, we just don't do them very often because the eczema is flaring up again :( And the hard water down here doesn't help. We need a Northern holiday and some lovely soft water to wash him in!
