Emphasis lines

Spent the day in a meeting with an architect on the new building - lots of architect speak like fenestration and skin texture and mass.
As an engineer I regard the building envelope as something that keeps the rain off the important bits. However occassionally I have to put on a metaphorical bow tie and talk dirty with these guys.
The new building has to marry up with the old and that's proving difficult, these emphasis lines were all the rage in the late eighties and nineties, now like beauty spots on a handsome woman they are just plain ugly.
Even with the reflection of a stormy sky they really only detract.
So they are all coming off.....
