A trip into Kerry
A hilarious night out last night at a table quiz in one of the local pubs - a small but lively gathering with a great atmosphere and crazy questions ie Which is the deepest lake in the world? Answer the Caspian Sea !!??
No electricity again today so we decided to venture out. Amazing weather going on with rain, clouds, sunshine and rainbows - all at once, and the light was extraordinary. We headed for Glengarrif woods, mainly beech, birch and oak and the colours were superb. A river runs through complete with massive waterfall. Endless photos were taken but then we decided to continue the excitement and head over the border to Kerry! Up to now the scenery had been stunning but now it became jaw-dropping!! The mountains are bigger and bleaker and the light was astonishing - russett and slate and moss, even vermilion!! We lunched in Kenmare then headed home - just before the tunnel through the mountain (one side Cork, one side Kerry) a rainbow suddenly appeared! We stopped the car and leapt out - the landscape was massive and impossible to do justice too but this gives you a little idea. A great day out.
Now a short rest then we're off to Craic and Crunch!! ie music and a buffet at a friend's house. They put on these evenings once a month in the Autumn/Winter to keep us all sane. Only half works!!
