Little Train Adventures...
I think I'm trying to conclude a theory on entertaining children across a day. It may have been already been covered by someone, possibly Nick Hornby in About a Boy. It regards the day not as a full day but as a couple compartmentalised wee sections Into these sections of the day, you can put child entertainments or other less fun but more menial tasks. Breaks up the day and makes it easier to fill it.
Today, our wee afternoon section was a little train adventure. We packed our lunch, hot footed it across to the train station, caught a train, had lunch on the way, got off at Edinburgh, got a bottle of water and then headed back again. A brill wee couple of hours just pottering across the river and back interspersed with Ewan entertaining the passengers with a bit of 'Nellie the Elephant'. Having bought a weekly ticket for work, the whole trip came to the grand price of the bottle of water.
Almost got my first female Project Cans victim as well but she left before I had a chance to organise my camera and accost her. Oh well... It would however seem that train stations are a prime hunting ground for the project.
