Baking Extravaganza

I'm not the only one who likes to take pictures. B got a new camera recently, and since then, he has been documenting just about everything (just as he's doing in this picture.) Today's pictures included lime bars, apple bread, and an apple pie.

Estimation was a theme throughout our time of baking. We used a lemon bar recipe for the lime bars, a banana bread recipe for the apple bread, and made the pie crust and filling with no recipe. My Stateside hobby of making pies really payed off. The crust turned out better than I expected (we rolled it out with a small bottle of vanilla), and the apple filling was delicious (even though it was made with red apples instead of the green, sour ones.) Thank you Grandma for sending me here with a pie pan! As I took the bubbling, lattice topped pie out of the oven, one student exclaimed, "That's the yummiest looking thing I've seen come out of that oven!"

The students had a great time baking and an even better time tasting!
