Simplicity
I feel a little apologetic about this picture. It's so simple but there's something about it that speaks to me.
We spent a good chunk of our day standing by the lake, chatting with other birders watching migrating hawks, chickadees, hermit thrush and other assorted birds go by. Some soared slowly high against the clouds. Others streaked by or flew in circles catching the thermals that would lead them west along the lake.
I watched the sun move in the sky glinting off the water and highlighting the pattern of the wind and currents. It was very pretty but everything I saw was common to me. I didn't know how to take a picture that I would keep until I sat looking closer and closer at the grass growing up the chain link fence and found that feeling of discovery making the common uncommon, rare and special.
The rest of the day was equally simple and pleasurable. A long nap, lots of cooking, watching my son wolf down the food I made for him and relaxation with my hubby in front of the TV.
It's going to be a busy, busy week. Hope I can hold on to this feeling.
